HARKER HEIGHTS CITY HALL & RECREATION CENTER
Harker Heights, Texas
SIZE: 12,000 sf
TYPE: New Construction
COMPLETION DATE: 2000
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Continued population growth along with increased City Services created the need for new City facilities. Harker Heights purchased a site to locate both a new City Hall and a new Recreation Center. Wiginton Hooker Jeffry Architects worked with the City to determine the space required to satisfy present and future needs. The first phase City Hall contains 15,000 square feet. A large central public area links the Council Chambers/Municipal Court space with City Administration, Finance department, Engineering and Municipal Court Clerk areas. Public service counters project into the public areas to create an open, “user-friendly” building. The Recreation Center sits across the site from the City Hall and contains 12,000 square feet with game area, fitness area, multi-purpose rooms, office space and a gymnasium.
