PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This 11,750 square-foot Fire Station for the Town of Flower Mound is located on the edge of a Town Park and uses exterior materials that complement the existing Community Activity Center. The building consists of three drive-thru apparatus bays with bi-folding doors, living quarters for seven firefighters, an office for the station officer, a fitness center, hardened storm refuge area and additional support spaces. Station 5 was the second of two stations designed concurrently for the Town which utilized the same basic layout and massing but different exterior materials to better suit the surroundings of each. The construction documents for this facility were produced utilizing a Building Information Modeling (BIM) System which allowed for greater visual study of both the interior and exterior spaces as well as better design coordination between all Building Design disciplines.
