PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The 11,500 square-foot Fire Station for the City of Plano is located on the edge of the Legacy Business Park. The facility includes three drive-thru apparatus bays and support spaces, sleeping for 11 firefighters, dayroom, dining, fitness room, study, and Officer’s office.
LEED Design
The project is being submitted for LEEDTM Gold Certification. Some of the “green” goals of the facility include:
Water Conservation
50% irrigation water use reduction through use of drought tolerant plants
30% water use reduction inside the buildings with plumbing fixture selections and water reuse
Energy And Atmosphere
25% decrease in overall energy consumption by increased wall and roof insulation, window shading devices, reflective roof surfaces, efficient light fixtures, and a more efficient HVAC system
Materials and Resources
10% total recycled content of all building materials
20% total building materials which are locally harvested and manufactured
Durable finishes with minimal maintenance or replacement such as polished concrete
Indoor Environmental Atmosphere
Low emitting interior materials such as odorless paint and cabinetry with no toxic adhesives Increased outside air flow for building occupants
