PROJECT DESCRIPTION: New Ambulatory Health Care Clinic operated by The University of Texas Health Center at Tyler on the campus of The University of Texas at Tyler. This facility offers health services to students, faculty and the community at large. Services include internal medicine, allergy/pulmonology services, pediatric services and student counseling. The Health Care Clinic offers one more component in the ever widening spectrum of educational opportunities available to the nursing and healthcare oriented students of the University. Careful consideration was given to the location of the Clinic to facilitate access for student, faculty and community members.
To quantify, verify and organize the functional and design elements for the Clinic Wiginton Hooker Jeffry Architects facilitated a programming workshop with selected staff of both Universities and the Office of Facilities Planning and Construction. The Design Team worked diligently for three days to create and justify the space program and design criteria. Based on service description and patient population needs the Team established design goals and benefits for the Clinic. The next step was to specify an actual listing and sizing of individual functional spaces for the Clinic.
